Thoughts on copyright

We agree about software copyright, and our schools are zealous about number of licenses used, etc.

However, we have conflicted feelings about music copyright. Neither of us have given it enough thought to take a definitive position at this time. One of us has done it on occasion; the other has never done it and has no interest in doing it (not on any moral grounds).

It seems like it's a losing battle--like trying to hold back the tide.

Steve, you obviously feel strongly about this issue. We are curious as to the origins of your feelings in this matter. What was the genesis? Was there a defining moment?
